چکیده

Time-temperature-transformation (TTT) curves have been determined for SRL 165 waste glass. Extent and sequence of crystallization were determined by XRD and SEM. The incipient crystallization product, spinel, can be determined at one volume percent by magnetic susceptibility. The type and percentage of crystallization is correlated with waste glass durability. * The information contained in this article was developed during the course of work under Contract No. DE-AC09-76SR00001 with the U.S. Department of Energy.

A better characterization of spinal cord damage in multiple sclerosis: a diffusional kurtosis imaging study.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The spinal cord is a site of predilection for MS lesions. While diffusion tensor imaging is useful for the study of anisotropic systems such as WM tracts, it is of more limited utility in tissues with more isotropic microstructures (on the length scales studied with diffusion MR imaging) such as gray matter. In contrast, diffusional kurtosis imaging, which measures both G...

In vivo magnetization transfer measurements of experimental spinal cord injury in the rat.

Magnetization transfer (MT) imaging techniques were implemented to study a clip compression model of spinal cord injury (SCI) in the rat. The purpose of this study was to determine if the magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) could be used to classify the stage and severity of SCI. Two clip compression injuries were studied: mild SCI and severe SCI. MTRs were determined for gray matter (GM) and wh...

A Novel MRI Biomarker of Spinal Cord White Matter Injury: T2*-Weighted White Matter to Gray Matter Signal Intensity Ratio.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE T2*-weighted imaging provides sharp contrast between spinal cord GM and WM, allowing their segmentation and cross-sectional area measurement. Injured WM demonstrates T2*WI hyperintensity but requires normalization for quantitative use. We introduce T2*WI WM/GM signal-intensity ratio and compare it against cross-sectional area, the DTI metric fractional anisotropy, and mag...

Measurement of T1 and T2 in the cervical spinal cord at 3 tesla.

T(1) and T(2) were measured for white matter (WM) and gray matter (GM) in the human cervical spinal cord at 3T. T(1) values were calculated using an inversion-recovery (IR) and B(1)-corrected double flip angle gradient echo (GRE) and show significant differences (p = 0.002) between WM (IR = 876 +/- 27 ms, GRE = 838 +/- 54 ms) and GM (IR = 973 +/- 33 ms, GRE = 994 +/- 54 ms). IR showed significa...

MRI Atlas-Based Measurement of Spinal Cord Injury Predicts Outcome in Acute Flaccid Myelitis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Recent advances in spinal cord imaging analysis have led to the development of a robust anatomic template and atlas incorporated into an open-source platform referred to as the Spinal Cord Toolbox. Using the Spinal Cord Toolbox, we sought to correlate measures of GM, WM, and cross-sectional area pathology on T2 MR imaging with motor disability in patients with acute flacc...
